The ideal of a community built in peace and harmony, the ideal of A community in which each people of the society participates in the development, the ideal of a community in which there is no discrimination, no violence, no gender inequality no racism.
It’s that community that a great man dreamt about, it is that community that a great man who sacrificed part of his life, to include this ideal in our lives as Africans fought for.
It is that man that believed in this community that we are celebrating today.
Dear Mandela, it is not unfounded that you have been chosen to have the name of one the greatest program uniting young African leaders. It is just kind of a reminder for we Africans not to forget the values that you sacrificed part of a life for.
Today we young leaders, should be the perpetuators of this dream.
Dear Mandela fellows, today is the day of a great African leader .
Let’s celebrate it, let’s celebrate his teachings, thoughts and values.
Thanks Mbathio for sharing this beautiful celebration!
ReplyDeleteHis life, from humble beginnings to being more than just SA President who called for Forgiveness instead of vengence after apartheid, resonates strongly in our hearts. This is even truer today as we are Mandela Washington Fellows.
Mandela walked the long walk to Freedom and in spite of the many human rights violations in present-day societies, I have hope that the challenges won't be the same for us, young African leaders. Unlike heroes such as Mandela, who had little light to show them the way, we proudly lead the walk to emancipation and equal human rights, using their light.
Proud to be MANDELA!
