President Macky Sall meets 2016 MWF fellows



The 2016 Mandela Washington Fellows, together with 2015/2014 alumni and US embassy representatives were honored to meet the Senegalese Head of State, on June 9th,2016.

M. Sall praised the good partnership between the USA & Senegal symbolized by the great number of initiatives and programs shared by both countries. President Sall showed his gratitude to President Obama who initiated this flagship meant for strengthening the young African leaders.

Turning to the fellows, President Sall prided himself on their profiles and the exemplary work they all had been doing for the country in different fields. “The leadership taught in this kind of program stimulates one's own contribution to their nation’s growth.

Regarding the fellowship, Macky Sall invited the young leaders to stay authentic and be open minded.



The President’s speech was preceeded by Mrs Sandra Clark, first secretary of US embassy, who gave the greetings of ambassador Zumwalt, out of Senegal at that moment. She also congratulated 2016 fellows, chosen after a very selective process led by the US Department of State.

Speaking in the name of the fellows, Mrs Borso Tall ensured President Sall that 2016 cohort will represent brightly the country.

«We are going to strengthen our capacities and come back to contribue to the development of our nation, as expressed in the Plan Senegal Emergent", concluded Mrs Borso Tall.
